Updated Jul 17, 2026 · pre-session · the Jul 27 decision is next session's headline; the Jul 3 recap + plan are further down
The plan from today's session (Jul 3)
Work / Nick: not quitting — one real month to Aug 1 at full buy-in (websites after-hours), and have the honest accountability call with Nick. The realization: it was guilt keeping me stuck, not money (DJ + websites cover the money).
Environment: start working from Dad's St. Laurent office Mondays — out of the room, away from the games.
The void: join a fitness/social community (padel, Pure Yoga, gym) so Karla and video games stop being my only source of connection.
Karla: same cycle, tamer but not net-positive — she's filling the void, so the fix is real sources, not her.
Full recap in your 4-part format at the bottom. The going-in brief, dashboard, and data are below it.
Update since the session — Jul 5 to Jul 16
The Jul 5 "she ended it" close didn't hold — she called back about 16 hours later the same day and they reconciled. That reopened stretch ran through Jul 14, when he ended it this time, over her Instagram bikini posts (the 3rd confirmed fight on that exact trigger: Jun 2, Jul 5, Jul 14). The play he chose: hard no-contact with no expiration, her birthday Jul 27 handled with you in the room, not improvised. He's the documented 0-for-5 reopen vector across this whole arc; she's never been the one who didn't come back. Mechanics + the therapy-relevant threads from his Jul 16 life-strategy review are in the new section below (jump there), and the Jul 27 decision itself is the next session's headline.
July 2026 life strategy — what's driving the rest of this page
Sean ran a full life-strategy review Jul 16 (his own document, his own words below). It's not a new topic to open in session, it's the operating system the rest of this brief now sits inside. Flagged here so you have the mechanics without him having to re-derive them live.
The constraint, in his words: "usable morning capacity is the bottleneck." The 90-day plan subordinates almost everything else to one mechanism, a protected sleep-to-wake sequence, because his own accounting says the last decade of attempts died at the same point every time: the version of him running the plan at 2am is not the version who wrote it.
The night gate. Phone docked at a desk (not the bed), grayscale, DND on a taper (1:50am dock this week, moving earlier). Ten minutes outside on waking before any recreational screen. He calls it a "speed bump," not a wall, on purpose, honest with himself about how thin the enforcement is.
The send — Box 3, the one with veto power. Before any game, reels, or porn: one revenue-rep send from his own pipeline. His own scoring rule: a day can have five green boxes and still count as lost if this one is red. Deliberate anti-theater design, his words, "green boxes never override the gates."
The 6-box day. Night gate held, morning launch, the send, movement, clean dopamine, a night voice-note. Scored 5-of-6 on purpose, not 6 — his own read on his history is that one missed box turning into a full reset was the actual failure mode, not the miss itself.
The escalation protocol — you're named in it as the witness
Three triggers, same-day and mechanical: a Karla contact attempt in either direction, three lost days in any seven, or a non-gig night that runs past 5am. Worth having close to verbatim since it puts you in a specific role:
On any trigger: screenshot the scoreboard immediately, record one voice note, then 72 hours with games, porn, and feeds unavailable (launchers logged out, phone docked at 10pm). During those 72 hours the only four duties are outside time, one send, movement, and sleep.
The screenshots come to the next session, with you. His own rule: "no plan edits until that session." He's pre-decided you and the 5am daily brief are the only two checks in the system — "the witness stack is the 5am brief plus Tannoz."
Threads from the review that are therapy work, not just logistics
The circuit (his read — one loop, nine masks). His own diagnosis chain: no aim, then an unprotected evening, then a binge (games, porn, feeds, smoke), then a 6am night, then a dead morning, then no send and no gym, then no wins, then the games supplying the progression feeling instead, then the money stays tight so the mission stays survival math, back to no aim. Underneath it, in his own words: "if I show up as myself and I'm not enough, I'll be left." He names the two respectable-looking covers for it himself as "building systems instead of sending" and "the hundredth uncooked business idea," both flagged inside his own review as the same avoidance loop wearing a builder's costume.
The exposure logic. He's framed the daily send as doing double duty: it's the revenue rep, and by his own read it doubles as a rep against the core wound above, evidence collected against "if I show up and I'm not enough, I'll be left," one boring send at a time. Flagged here as his own interpretation to test with you, not asserted as a formulation.
The mom / Gaia containers. Three fixed pieces he installed: the lock-screen line ("Hand of Gaia. Mom is in everything alive; I move things for her"), a photo of his mother by the desk, and a weekly ten-minute rep helping one other ADHD person. His own standing rule: anything about his mother that gets heavy routes to you, not to a productivity system. Named explicitly by him as grief work, not a task to check off.
What replaces the 5-dials assignment. The IFS-era behavioral homework (5 dials before 3pm) went undone for 14 straight days by his own accounting, and that non-completion is the data point his review leans on. The send plus the exposure rep above are now the standing behavioral assignment in its place — same exposure logic, redesigned around what actually happened last time instead of what he intended.

HEADLINEJul 27 — Karla's birthday, his decision. Silence, a one-shot text, or flowers: he's pre-committed to bringing all three options into the room instead of deciding alone at night. Full breakdown, his stated want, and the 4 questions he's bringing you in Topic 2, Jul 27 decision.

The real thing under today: he's frozen on a decision (keep giving N5/Nick one more shot, or go all-in on his own agency) and the not-deciding leaks into everything. He wants help selling himself, choosing where his energy goes, and how to actually have the Nick conversation. Detail + the time-tracker receipts in Work & money.
11:22 · 20m · 40%Karla — a status check, not a close push. It's blurry and he doesn't want to give up, and his honest read is that the pull is loneliness (she's the only source for this in Ottawa). OpenKeep the money work first (the keystone). The scary-simple task (the outreach, the decision) keeps getting deferred for build-and-organize work. The tracker below shows it.

What's working
The income engine is holding: still earning more than he did abroad, and the DJ floor just delivered a back-to-back prom + wedding weekend.
Better self-talk around the family negativity, "boxing out" the household tension instead of absorbing it.
Through a rough stretch he hasn't fully disappeared into the low, still working, still showed up to prep this session.

Right now
Three topics, one rootWork paralysis, the Karla pull, and the sleep/gaming spiral — he thinks they're the same avoidance loop wearing three faces.
Topic 1 · Work & money — the paralysis
The real thing under today: he's paralyzed. He's scared to make a call on the N5 job, so every day feels like Groundhog Day and he avoids the one scary move — the outreach, the decision. It's the same avoidance loop you've worked before, now pointed at a decision, and it's bleeding into his sleep and his money.
The frozen decision. Keep giving N5 (Nick's agency) one more real shot, or drop it and go all-in on his own web agency. He can't do N5 consistently. Not choosing is the paralysis, and it's the thing he most wants help deciding.
Nick. Nick texted "we should catch up" and he didn't reply — he just didn't want to talk to him. Avoiding that conversation is part of the stuckness. Johnnie (his coworker) is giving N5 one last shot; Sean can't sustain it the same way.
This week's pattern. Went hard early in the week, got one booking, then stopped. The on-off effort is part of what he wants to stop — it's not hurting much, but it's not working either.
What he wants from you. Help selling himself and deciding where to put his energy, and how to actually approach the Nick conversation. The skill and the value are real — he commands around $1,600 for a cash event — so the block isn't ability, it's doing the scary outreach.
The loop, live. He set out to do one hour of work and hit the same resistance and avoided it. He wants to go deeper on that loop and how it's affecting him — this is the core thing to work.
A small side-thought (not a main topic). A Viktor Frankl idea he ran into — work as meaning versus work as anesthesia, a painkiller with a good story. Worth ~a minute: is the grind chosen, or a way to not feel the rest.

Topic 2 · Karla
As of Jul 14, off again — his call this time, hard no-contact, no expiration. The Jul 5 close (below) never actually held: she called back ~16 hours later and they reconciled, then ran continuous through Jul 14, when he detonated it himself over her Instagram bikini posts, the 3rd confirmed fight on that exact trigger. This time the play (chosen via his own council process) is deliberately different from every prior close: no expiration date, no scripted peaceful sit-down, and her birthday Jul 27 handled with you in the room rather than improvised alone. He's named himself the documented 0-for-5 reopen vector in this arc.
The close, in his words. Same close/reopen cycle the ledger below tracks. This lap he's the one who ended it, and he's flagged the difference himself: every prior hold broke because the plan was written by regulated-him and didn't survive contact with depleted-him. This time there's no built-in expiration for depleted-him to find.
The caving, in his words. Through the arc: they'd break up, she'd reach out, and he'd cave, or he'd reach out first. He can narrate the whole pattern while inside it. The pull isn't that it's working, it's that she's been the only source he's got for the feeling in Ottawa right now.
What he wants from you. The Jul 27 decision below is the acute ask. Underneath it, the standing question is unchanged: is the hold this time structurally different, or does it just have fewer holes for him to fall through.
Jul 27 decision (her birthday, a Monday) — his to make in session
Nothing sends before the session. He's written up his own three options with the honest predicted chain for each, pulled from the arc's own receipts, and wants your read on which is the wound talking versus which is the strategy it's dressed as.
A. Silence (his pre-committed default). Every prior close she's reopened within days of his holding it. If "distance manufactures devotion" is his own stated frame, silence is the maximum-devotion play by his own math — any text pays into her frame instead.
B. A one-shot midday "feliz cumple" text, no-reply-that-day rule. His own receipts: every single contact in the record converted to reconciliation mechanics within a day (May 18 "hi," Jun 23 "you up," each spiraled). No instance on file of a contained one-shot.
C. Flowers. By his own account this is the May relapse mechanics verbatim, and the timing (13 days after he ended it) reads as the apology opener, not the power move he intends it as.
What he's said he actually wants (his words, Jul 16): "make sure she's still thinking of me without investment." He doesn't expect to want her back before October, expects her to test the wall first, and admits "if she reaches out, I'd likely want to reach out."
The 4 questions he's bringing you
Is the "feliz cumple" urge the wound or the strategy? His own test: would he still want to send it if he knew it worked but she never told him so?
What does "win" mean if he doesn't want her back before October, and he's returning to her city that day?
The bikini/jealousy trigger, his own and untreated, 3-for-3 as the detonator — is the real Jul 27-week risk his text, or his reaction to whatever she posts that night?
(Standing) Oct 10 means landing back in her city. What's the frame for that, whatever state Jul 27 leaves the door in?
Decision owner: Sean, in session with you, in daylight. Nothing gets drafted or sent to her by any tool before then.
The last two weeks (the reopen, day by day)
Jun 16
Last session: the Karla close was decided. That same night she reached out; he held the line without reopening or formally closing it.
Jun 17–20
It reopened anyway: a blow-up, a callback, then a ~4-hour marathon call that re-enmeshed them within days.
Jun 22
The close finally executed, under fire (a betrayal disclosure surfaced) — the cleanest end of the whole arc. It held about a day.
Jun 23–28
Reopened from both sides and ran continuous: rupture-then-makeup calls, late-night gaming hangouts to ~4am, a "wall / loyalty / marriage" call. Functionally back together, no status conversation.
Jun 30
Her dog was hurt; he became the person she leaned on through it. The caretaking set into ongoing check-ins rather than releasing with the scare.
Jul 3
A pre-session call in the early hours ran the same conflict shape again. The live question he's bringing in.
Topic 3 · Body & sleep
His sleep is cooked — and he's emphatic that it's not the DJing. It's late-night video games. He stays up gaming because there's nothing to get up for in the morning and he's dodging the next thing. It's the same avoidance loop as the work paralysis, just at night — cheap dopamine instead of the scary thing, and he doesn't feel bad doing it in the moment.
The real cause. Not gigs, not a scheduling accident — it's avoidance. No morning anchor plus the pull of easy dopamine equals another all-nighter. The tracker in the Work section shows the same thing in daylight (the gaming eats the day).
The schedule point (true, but separate). A 9-to-5 morning routine genuinely doesn't fit a night-shift gig calendar, and he's right about that. But that's not what wrecked the sleep this week — the gaming-avoidance did. Fixing the routine won't fix the avoidance.
What might actually help. Something to get up for in the morning — which loops straight back to the work floor. A reason beats a rule.

Landed the plan: one real month at N5 to Aug 1 (full buy-in, websites after-hours) + the honest accountability call with Nick (guilt, not money, was the anchor); office Mondays; join a fitness/social community so Karla and games aren't the only source. Rehearsed the Nick call live.

After our session — Sean's recap (Jul 3 session)
Jul 3 recap · written by Sean, in your 4-part format
Sean's own account of the Jul 3 session, structured in your note format so you don't have to rebuild it. It's his recap, not a clinical note. Your record, your observations, and any risk or safety assessment are yours alone.
Focus of session
Whether to stay in the N5 sales job or move on, and the avoidance loop underneath the work paralysis, with Karla and the sleep/gaming as the same loop's other faces.
Content discussed
Work led it. Inconsistent since March (~4 months, near-zero commissions; owes Nick a $1,600 advance that comes off a future deal). Brought the screen-tracker receipts in live: ~8h video games, ~4h building websites, ~48 min real work today.
Task-initiation is the wall. When he actually started (Monday's dials) he was "flying" and booked an appointment, so it's the starting he resists, not the work. High dopamine baseline; cold-calling is anti-ADHD (rejection, repetition).
The real driver isn't money. Worked through it: he needs a daytime income activity, but his own websites (S.Chi Labs) would fill that need, so financially he doesn't need N5. What keeps him there is guilt about Nick (best friend, gave him the opportunity + the advance).
A reframe that lowered the stakes: Nick is doing fine solo, doesn't need him or Johnnie, loses nothing on commission-only, so honesty is low-risk and Nick deserves the truth.
The decision: not quitting; one real month to Aug 1 at ~75%+ full-time (websites move to after-hours), then reassess. Half-assing the month equals the same result, so it has to be a real buy-in.
The Nick call got rehearsed live (Nick actually called mid-session): accountability + transparency + collaboration, not a threat. "I haven't been performing, I know you've noticed, I don't want you to think I'm taking advantage of you, I want one real month, let's figure it out together."
Environment: start working from his Dad's St. Laurent office Monday, out of the room and away from the gaming setup.
Video games / sleep: games after ~5–7pm to avoid the next day, runs late, wrecks sleep. Last session's screen-cutoff guardrail didn't hold. The driver he named: "when I don't have anything to live for tomorrow morning."
Karla: he ended it, she called two days later, he picked up, same cycle, tamer but not net-positive. He named it himself: he gravitates to her because she's his only source of social/emotional connection in Ottawa, the same void the games fill.
Conceptualization (his read)
One avoidance loop wearing three faces. Work: task-initiation resistance plus a high dopamine baseline; the guilt about Nick keeps him in limbo, and the limbo itself is the harm. Karla and video games are both filling the same void, no real social or fitness ecosystem in Ottawa, so she's the "only source to feed off of." Sleep is downstream of the gaming, which is downstream of "nothing to get up for." It's all connected: clear the work decision, build real sources of connection, and the whole thing loosens.
To explore next session
Did the Nick conversation happen, and did the one real month actually start (full buy-in, websites after-hours)?
Did the office (Monday) and a fitness/social community (padel, Pure Yoga, gym) get started, the void-fillers that aren't Karla or games?
With a real source coming online, does the Karla pull drop? Is the cycle loosening?
Tools for the task-initiation wall, the first five minutes, since once he starts he's fine.
The deeper root: the high dopamine baseline and "nothing to live for tomorrow morning."
This is Sean's recap for your convenience only. The clinical record, your observations, and any risk or safety assessment are yours to make and own, nothing here is meant to stand in for them.
